It’s a Boy!

Mrs G and her family are very happy to announce the birth of Owen John Gardner on 6 March 2013 weighing 3.7kg (8 pounds 4 ounces) and 50cm long. Owen is being a very good little baby, so good that Mrs G is putting her feet up, having cups of tea and reading magazines. Charlotte is a proud big sister and will make sure that Mrs G is much busier as soon as she is home from hospital.

I hope that you’re all enjoying Year 1 and look forward to bringing Owen in to school to meet you soon.

Thank you all for your wonderful gifts and kind sentiments as the year has drawn to a close. It is so heartwarming to feel appreciated!

The last day of the school year is always an incredible mix of relief, excitement and sadness for us. The sadness is made a little easier knowing that we will still get to see most of the now familiar faces of the GO Reception children around the school yard for many years to come. We will eagerly watch them continue to grow and blossom through their primary school journey, and feel privileged to have had the opportunity to be part of their school experience.

See you at CVPS graduation in 2019!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all.
Leah and Kylie

PS Mrs O’s new work shoes bought with her Westfield voucher 🙂

A pizza lunch will be provided for all students on the last day of term. Costs will be covered by class funds. Children were asked to choose their favourite pizza toppings to help with ordering. Children will still need to pack fruit, recess and a water bottle, and are welcome to bring their own lunch as well.

Please remember that the canteen will be closed on the last day of term.

Five days to go! Hang in there 🙂

Christmas Math

The term may be winding down but the learning isn’t! Check out our 12 days of Christmas maths below. Learning addition and subtraction is one thing, but the ability to apply these skills in problem solving situations is crucial.  During problem solving lessons we ask students questions and they then individually work on their answers. We then share their strategies and discuss which were the most efficient (fastest!) and the best way to approach each problem.

Final Reception Lunch

Please remember that our final Reception Lunch for the year will be held on Friday, 7 December. Please meet us in the new hall at 12:30pm, where the children share a short Christmas concert with you.

After the concert classrooms will be open for children to share their work with families, followed by a BYO picnic lunch on the hill in the Junior Primary yard (weather permitting).

We look forward to seeing you there.
